Does anyone out there know of any psychiatry programs that have a clinical (or research) focus on telemedicine or international practice?

I agree with titoincali, New Mexico is big on telemedicine. Check out the video of the residency program and its emphasis on telemedicine here. In terms of international psychiatry, OHSU has a fantastic-looking Intercultural Psychiatry Program which works with South East Asian refugees and other ethnic groups. I've also heard that UC Davis has similar opportunities.

I'm curious what residents from these places have to say about these programs.

loma linda has a couple residents go abroad almost every year. very flexible here.

this is a digression, I know, but I gotta say, telemedicine is a drag. sure, it's better than nothing.... but is it?

all my experience with telemedicine has confirmed the lameness of the 'med check'.... why? because a med check is all you can really do with telemedicine where you don't have the nuance of direct interaction. and med checks alone are never enough. I mean, our medicines aren't even that good.

I hope someone can respond with a rave telemedicine experience and save me from my skepticism.
