Hey guys,

So I am finishing up my sophomore year and want to know what you guys think so far with my stats.

GPA:3.61
sGPA: 3.83

I have volunteered through out the year at a low income dental clinic and accumulated about 100 hours of volunteering. I am also on my colleges pre-dental club executive board. I also work with a dentist during my summers and breaks and have about 400 hours working with him. I know having so many hours does not really improve anything but I get paid, so its more than just shadowing.

For the fall I plan on taking Organic 2, cell bio, Microbiology. And during the winter break take the DAT. I will be applying in the next cycle (a year from June). If needed I was going to take the kaplan course over next summer (2011) and retake the DAT at the end of summer 2011.

What do you guys recommend I do to improve my EC?
I know my sGPA is pretty good but that is going to change pending my grades for next semester. What do you guys think I need to get on the DAT to be competive?..I plan on applying to the Texas schools (Im in-state)

I would say you're on the right track, and I suspect you already know this but just need words of affirmation. So good luck.

Nothing I can suggest that you haven't already accomplished. Steller GPA, good volunteering hours, and have plenty of dental exposure. If by time you apply and you don't get in, none of us have a chance lol.

I admire young folks like you who take the initiative and work hard in their early undergrad years. I wish I had done that 🙁
