Should I differentiate prophase from Prometaphase while studying or is it ok to lump the two together like in cliffs ap bio?

For the DAT you just need to know how to differentiate prophase from metaphase and understand prometaphase is a more in depth approach at explaining the transition from prophase to metaphase. I think you have a good grasp on things but don't over think it, just make sure you know what happens during prophase and metaphase..... and anaphase, telophase, interphase (G1, S-phase, G2). The questions on the DAT are clear enough that you'll very easily be able to distinguish which phase they are describing and they wont ask about ambiguous transition periods during mitosis
