Prometric vs. FRED software?

Hi,

I saw that the usmle website for step 2 has both a prometric software and a "FRED" software for questions.

What is the difference?

Which program is going to be at the actual test center?

FRED is just the name of the new prometric usmle software. There is really no difference other than the user interface. The newer software is easier to click through and you can highlight and cross out if you want but you dont have to use that option. Its the same at all prometric centers.
