Hi guys, I know this is for MCAT questions, but I didn't know where else to place it, so I was wondering if anyone else had this same problem and how they overcame it.

English isn't my first language (I began learning it when I was 4), so I often stumble on pronouncing long or oddly spelled anatomy or medical words. For anyone else that has had this problem, u know what I mean- we tend to stutter, whisper, or just flat out pronounce the word incorrectly when using it in front of classmates or professors (kinda embrassing!). I rarely don't have this problem in everyday language, just when it's medical or anatomical terminology, such as "sternocleidomastoid" or "auricular". I'm assuming this problem is because I never learned phonetics; I kinda just learned how to pronounce words based upon hearing them often, and this doesn't really apply to my new situation.

I know the MCAT doesn't have an "oral" component (haha), and I'm actually starting med school this fall, but it's a problem I felt like I wanted to bring up with my awesome fellow SDNers to see if anyone can relate and more importantly how they solved it. Thanks to everyone for your help!

You should use merriam-webster online: www.m-w.com

You can pretty much type in any word and click on the red audio sign that'll pronounce the word for you so you know how to say it properly. They also have a medical dictionary, which will help you once you start med school. Good luck.
