This might be a dumb question but how do schools know if you actually were in a club or did do the volunteer hours? Are we supposed to get letters from everyone stating the time spent in each club/job/shadowing?

usually they never check. unless they specify that they want a letter from your volunteer office or stuff like that. i know tufts want a prof from the volunteer office.

if they like you as an applicant, they might check if they feel that there is something wrong or missing in your application. or something not matching up.

but usually they never have that kind of time. they wont even bother if you're not a desirable applicant.....its a waste of their time.

if your g.p.a, letters, and dat are fine then you dont have anything to worry about.

I would say in most cases, its somewhat easy to see if you were fabricating. They usually ask a lot of questions based around volunteer work and clubs you've been in or research and the way you talk about it will usually give away whether you were exaggerating or not. The only thing most schools might check is shadowing hours though.

Especially if you said you invented the internet. It worked for Al Gore but it won't work for you.

Back in the day arizona wanted a list of volunteer information (numbers, hours, what you did) on their supplemental.

Also, during the interview, it's obvious if someone is lying to you. I'm sure there's a certain pre-dent reality to aadsas inflation ratio.

Honestly is the best policy.
