This sticky will list the SDN members who have volunteered to be personal statement proofreaders for the 2012-2013 cycle. If you would like to volunteer please PM owlegrad with the type of proofreading you are willing to do (grammar, content, style, all of the above, etc). Only pharmacists, current pharmacy students, and accepted pharmacy students can be proofreaders.

To those interested in having your Personal Statement proofread - Please note the following:

- Use caution when deciding where to send your PS - information can easily be plagiarized. Utilize the following list for those willing to proofread personal statements. There really is no guarantee that any user is not a shady character.

Guidelines:
1. Please do not post your email adress.
2. This is NOT a place to ask for someone to send you a PS, or write your PS for you. We are here to help with suggestions, and proofreading.
3. If you want to help others with personal statements, please PM owlegrad indicating your interest.
4. If you want help with your personal statement, PM (private message) someone on the list. The top right hand side of the website contains the link to private message immediately below your username.
5. Please don't post your personal statement in this thread.
6. FOR OUR VOLUNTEERS: Please understand that you are giving your time free of charge. You should not expect to be paid for proofreading, and please do not attempt to solicit SDN members for monetary compensation for proofreading their personal statements. Yep. I prefer if you submit it to me in a gmail document (send a link with edit privs) if you want me to look at it. That way I can provide comments directly on the document.
 
Just a note to those needing proofreading: Please do not send your essay in a private message. Ask for emails that way the proofreader can better assist you by making recorded changes on a word document or other desired editing programs.

Since I'm getting quite a few proofreading requests I am going to require a few things before I will proofread your essay.

Things I require before I will proofread your essay:

1) You must have at least 10+ (non-spam) posts here at SDN. This protects me somewhat from random Internet wackos.

2) You must provide me with your PS in an editable googledoc format. Here is a step-by-step method on how to do this. I will not give you my email address nor will I proofread your document in a PM. It is much easier to leave comments in a googledoc. If you don't provide me with a link, I won't respond to your PM.

3) Do not spam me to read your PS. I usually get to my inbox 3-4 times a week, so expect a response in a couple days after you PM me with your link. If you spam me, I won't respond to your PM.

4) Do not PM me asking if I'll proofread your PS, just PM me the link (from #2). If you don't I won't respond to your PM.


Things to expect (and not expect):

1) I will not write your PS for you. I will give you suggestions on how to improve certain passages.

2) I will not hold back to spare your feelings. I will be constructive in my suggestions.

3) I will only read any PS twice. I suggest an initial rough draft and then have me look over your proposed final draft. I get a lot of requests and don't have time to go through your PS 5 times a day.

Yes, I am still proofreading PS's. Even if I don't post here much on a regular basis I still get notifications about my PM's. So if you meet my qualifications listed above then follow the directions and feel free to PM me. I may not get back to you immediately (it may take 2+ days, depending on what I have going on), but if you've followed my instructions and meet the requirements, I will review your PS.
 
Hello folks, this is totally unrelated to this thread but I want to post a thread myself and have no idea how, i'm getting frustrated... can someone please take 15 seconds of their time and let me know. Thanks alot! 🙂
