i've decided to matriculate into school X next fall, so what is the most proper way of declining another school. is it via email, phone call, or a letter? just thinking about the future if i decide to specialize. don't want to offend anyone.

thanks for your input!

i sent emails to the directors. sounded good to me. i just wanted to let them know so they could release those spots for others. they may not even release any more seats until after the required date to respond. i could see how things could get messy if someone gave up their seat via phone, email, etc and then wanted it back. i guess i just wanted to let them know. i really think it depends on the school though. one of my letters asked me to please let them know. the others did not.

i just declined my acceptance to nyu via email. i wonder if they want a more official way like a signed letter. anyway, i hope this helps someone!
