Are you sure you wish to sign up for a field with terrible wages and continuously decreasing reimbursement?

Disrespected by other medical professionals and insurance companies?

Honestly will be ahead financially in life if you start working for McDonald’s right out of college.

What is the point of making a post like this? You can literally say this about any career. It’s not only arrogant but entirely privileged. PT salaries to some are more than their family has ever made… myself included. Maybe the thread Physical Therapy and not PTschool would be a better suited thread for you to complain and find other PTs in your situation. I’m sorry it’s not for you but that has nothing to do with any of the students in this thread.

Just warning the prospective students about how terrible of a ROI this career is. when you can literally make more with a BSN, PA school, NP school…etc.

How out of touch are you with the current trend PT is going? Graduating with close to six figures of debt making 65-80K a year is godawful and financial suicide if you want to have a family let alone a house in todays economy.

Between burning out from ridiculous productivity requirements, wage stagnation due to decreasing reimbursements from CMS, and the useless APTA, this field is in a terrible spot that’s only going to get worse.

Got any rebuttals besides ad hominems?
How is telling pt students to work at McDonald’s “just warning them”? If you wanted to “just warn” students this isn’t the way to go about it..

These are all extremely valid concerns and everyone should be aware of the pros and cons of any profession they’re going into. Posting a sarcastic post like this isn’t “just warning” students like you think.

Also- don’t assume everyone’s going into 6 figured of debt.. you might have, not everyone else has to. Between community college, scholarships, grad assistantships and living at home it’s completely reasonable to get a DPT without 6 figures of debt. I know these options aren’t available to everyone, but not everyone is doing college the same way you did. There are people who go into 6 figures of debt to go into even lower paying jobs. To each their own.

To any PT prospective students reading this.. yes, there are cons to the profession. You should look into them before going in. Yes, there are miserable PTs like this who will make you feel bad for going into PT. There are just as many happy PTs who made the investment worth it.. talk to them.

Lol then there are old head PT’s like this one who are in denial and can’t make a coherent counter argument without resorting to personal insults. I’m not wrong though 💁🏻‍♀️

The only happy PT’s I’ve noticed are the old masters level PT’s who are close to retiring and are complacent with not seeing a raise in 20 years.

Show me the happy DPT’s with at least 2 years in the field. I’ll be waiting (where Dey at doe?) - Chris Brown

This person is clearly unhappy with their life for some reason. All their previous posts are negative.

Anyway, I agree with what you said! Not everyone is in the situation this person is in. I’m very happy within this career and know many new grads who are as well. I am lucky and have little debt. But it’s not all about money. I personally enjoy a career where I feel I make a difference and have a purpose even if I’m not making 100k or more. But that’s just me! Have a good day. Hopefully the author of this thread will have an even better day! 😊
