What schools do provisional acceptances?

I heard Ohio will hand you a letter of acceptance at your interview if they really like you. I asked the preprofessions advisor at my school and she said that sounds fishy.

Also, what's the lowest GPA you heard get in anywhere? (I've seen the stats in the podiatry booklet, but I want to hear what you know). What allowed them to be accepted over those who have higher GPAs??

As for getting a letter I don't know, but schools have been known for giving out verbal acceptances.

A friend of mine at Columbia dental school got told by the dean after her interview, "I hope you've saved up for the deposit!" which is basically an acceptance.

On a completely unrelated note, sooner, do you go to OU?

Yes, I do! Actually an alumn as of this past May!

Awesome, I'm finishing up in the HES department and will be graduating this May!

Soo... does anyone know of any schools that do this?

I just got an interview invite from Scholl without an Mcat score..

Well congrats then!
Thank you.

I know that Temple and NY doesn't look at your application until you have your mcat score. I called kent and Samuel Merritt today and they both said it just depends on your application overall if they want to interview you with/without the Mcat score. Hope that helps.

What exactly is considered "solid stats" in the podiatry world? I always think of MD stats such as 3.5-4.0.

I'm just hoping I get offered interviews and hopefully a provisional acceptance (with a do-able MCAT requirement the school gives me).. I'm sitting at a 3.16 and a lower sGPA. I sent my application this week to all schools except 1. So far, I've worked for a podiatrist, shadowed a handful of other podiatrists in office and in the operating room, and mentored with one. I hope my resume and personal statement will show my enthusiasm for the field on paper.

Thank you.

This isn't accurate. Temple does interview without mcat scores if they choose to. Please don't post things that aren't factual.

A few years back OCPM used to hand out acceptance letter the day of the interview, but this is no longer true. Now the Admissions team reviews the application before and after you interview to determine if you are accepted. In the past, only the Admissions team was involved in the interviews, but now we also have our faculty/physicians participating the interview process.

In terms of GPA, the number does matter to a certain extent but it depends on the overall person. It depends on the courses you took, your MCAT scores, you shadowing experiences, your letters of rec, extracurricular activities and your personality in general. This is why our Admissions team reviews your application before and after your interview.
