Hey everyone,

I know I should have had this in 4 weeks ago but I'm working on my D.O. personal statment. Did any of you tailor it specifically to D.O. or was it more of a "why medicine" sort of essay?

Thanks...

Mine was a more "why doctor" but I did go back and forth a lot when trying to write it. I figure the secondaries that will be hopefully coming my way, will have the "why DO" essay prompt.

My primary PS (through the Texas system) was a generic "why medicine?" kind of essay. I used the same for both AMCAS and TMDSAS.

When I got TCOM's secondary, they had included the question of "why osteopathic?" so I used that space to talk about Osteopathic medicine.

That is what I am planning on doing as well. Thanks for the feedback!

As long as there is some part of your application (primary or secondary) that includes a fairly detailed description of why you want to go into osteopathic medicne specifically. You really need to include that. Can people get accepted w/out including this... of course they can. But including this will give you your BEST chance for acceptance... IMO!

Solid advice👍

I wrote why medicine with emphasis on osteopathic medicine.
