I have noticed a high incidence in the PT forums of people choosing an incorrect designation for their "status" and inadvertently misrepresenting themselves here on the forums. When you go to "personal details" in your account to pick you "status" within healthcare the following options are available: "Pre-Physical Therapy", "Physical Therapy Student" and "Physical Therapist". That should cover almost everyone around here. A wide variety of other options are available for members who don't quite fit one of these as well.
Notes:
In the past, "pre-rehab sci [AuD/DPT/OTD]" was the only option for pre-PT students. You can now choose from "Pre-Physical Therapy", though the old option remains for students who are unsure of the field they are pursuing, but know it will be one of the rehab fields.
Also, in the past the only option for licensed PTs and OTs was just "DPT/OTD". You can now choose either "Physical Therapist" or "Occupational Therapist" to be more accurate. Again, the old option is still there.
The most common issue seems to be new pre-PT members that join picking the old "DPT/OTD" option without seeing the "Pre-Physical Therapy" option. The "DPT/OTD" option falls a lot higher on the list and I think people pick it thinking they are supposed to pick what they are interested in, rather than what their qualifications actually are.
Thanks everyone. 🙂
