Long time lurker first time thread maker. In all the threads i have yet to see anyone mention Psi Chi. Was anyone in it in during undergrad like me? Will people continue to be in it in grad school? For those already in grad school is it still as prestigious an organization and what kinds of things does it do that maybe it didn't in undergrad?

Was VP of my undergrad chapter.

I'm not really involved as a grad student though I helped with an event just last week and I think I did something with them last year too (can't remember). I'm also not so sure I'd describe it as prestigious - the VAST majority of people who make it to the grad school level were eligible to join as undergrads, though obviously not everyone actually does. It was fun, interesting, and some of my fondest memories of undergrad are from it but "Psi Chi member" should be pretty far down the list of undergrad accomplishments for any grad school hopeful, at least based off what I saw at my school.

As for grad school, I know some students stay involved on some level, but it probably depends how active the chapter is at their new university. Its primarily an undergrad organization after all, though I'm sure most chapters would welcome grad student involvement.

Yeah, I was secretary and then president of my Psi Chi chapter in undergrad. Before I joined, it really was an organization that people joined and did nothing (just added it to their CV). I revived the chapter and did more activities while I was there, and so far I think it is continuing, which is nice to hear. 😎

As for grad school, I have not been involved for a couple of reasons. One, I simply do not have the time at the moment. Two, the Psi Chi chapter at my current schools is, to my knowledge, less active. If there is a Ph.D. program with a more active chapter, I would consider keeping it up, but I'll have to see what my other commitments are.

I was president of my undergrad chapter. It means something as an undergrad, but I don't think it's much of anything as a grad student.

Kind of strange-- at my undergrad school (ivy league) psi chi didn't exist (as far as i know)... Wonder what that's about.

I'm in psi chi as an undergrad... dunno if any of my graduate schools have it.

I applied to Psi Chi just a few days ago! I hear it is a nice thing to have on your C.V. but many undergraduates are in it when applying to top tier grad schools or even mid range.

The cut-off to join Psi Chi at my school is 3.5 or 3.6, and I think mostly everyone who's applying to PhD programs has that GPA. It might be 3.4...hm...I don't know, I'm not in it lol Not b/c of GPA, it's just not my style lol
