Psych shelf exam help for tomorrow!! Please:)

Hey guys,

so my psych shelf exam is tomorrow morning and I've only gotten 3/4 of the way thru FA for the Psych clerkship once, no questions done. What do you all recommend to triage this and to pass tomorrow? I think my school's passing score is a 67. Anyone? No haters please. Just need some help🙂

haha thanks kd, I'm definitely doing alot of that🙂 I had some family issues going on during this rotation and it was my first one back from a leave, so I wasn't able to get a lot of studying done. But seriously, any constructive help would be appreciated. Give a girl a break🙂

Well First Aid is only 150 pages, so if you've read 3/4 of it then you really don't have much else to do in order left to finish it. I'd make sure to read the psycopharm chapter at the very least (the last ~10 pages of the book). Then do some questions I guess. I've heard its the easiest of all the shelf exams, so you've got that going for you 😀

I'd try to power through and finish first aid.

If you can get your hands on some questions, I'd do those with any time you have left, but you need a good nights sleep before a shelf make sure to get a few good hours in.

Do you think I should re-read fa for psych or do uw step 2 ck psych questions (about 150 q's) or do some appleton and lange questions (they have two practice tests in the back) or pretest , blueprints?

I'm currently in psych and haven't had the shelf yet so I can't say which resources are the closest but I do like the UWorld questions. I've made it through the psych ones and they look pretty high yield. I'd say they'd be good to focus on right now. They haven't let me down on previous exams.

I've been doing appleton and lange and I'm not a fan. They're good if you've used up uworld, but they seem to get into a lot of detail that probably wont be on the shelf. Right now you need to focus on the high yield stuff. UWorld seems to have a lot of that.

Haven't used pretest or blueprints for psych but my experience with previous pretest books is similar to the appleton and lange book. Lots of info, but it can miss the mark sometimes.

Anyway. I'd say finish FA for Psych and hit UWorld but be sure to get a good night sleep tonight.

defenitly go through UW questions. Make sure you ignore any "theory-based" questions as they are not relevant to the shelf. Good luck tomorrow.
