I'm new to OT and trying to learn as much as I can. Do the MOT programs want to see applicants take a lot of psychology classes? I've taken general psych, human development psych and sports psychology. It seems most also require Abnormal Psychology. Would they also like applicants that have taken other psych based courses?

I would think so. Psych is a great undergrad major for pre-OT because you need to know how to connect and empathize with your patients and understand their points of view in whatever situation they're in. I don't think it would hurt an applicant who doesn't have extra psych classes, but I would think it definitely looks better than filling empty spaces in your schedule with random electives that aren't related to OT. If you're still in undergrad and your school has an OT program, they would have an undergrad adviser to guide you in your coursework. Bottom line - psych looks good. It'll definitely help you in practice, and probably in the application process as well.
