What psychiatry residencies have a particularly strong emphasis on psychodynamic psychotherapies?

Forgive me if this information is already elsewhere on the forum; after searching/browsing for about 15 minutes, I decided to just post!

Thanks in advance!

Check out SUNY Upstate. Strong emphasis on Psychodynamic Psychotherapy-Most are trained analysts from the Boston area. Look up there bio's on the website under psychotherapy division.

The program offers a psychotherapy track which is amazing! All residents are introduced to psychotherapy in 1st year. You also get great Psychopharm training as well. The psychopharm program is run by one of Steven Stahl's teachers Tom Schwartz-great teacher and researcher. Great program with tons of research opportunity if that is something your interested in as well.

hope this helps!

Far from a complete list (i.e., highly influenced by my geographic history), but would look at:

Harvard Longwood
Cambridge
MGH/McLean
Brown
NYU
Columbia
Cornell
Mt. Sinai
Northwestern
U Michigan
UCSF

I assume lots of places have strong psychodynamics. One more to toss in would be Baylor, where you get regular conferences with Glen Gabbard as well as Menninger.
