Given psychology's interest in acquiring RxP through their own psychopharmacology post-doctoral programs, I'm curious to know more about the psychiatric nurse practitioner route to prescribing. Psychologists may want to pursue more conventional routes to obtaining RxP instead of trying to blaze a new trail.

(1) What are the requirements for such programs for people who already hold a bachelor's degree?

(2) Are there accelerated programs? If so, how long are they?

(3) What is the RxP formulary for psychiatric NPs?

anyone with a bs in anything can do a direct entry np program in 3 yrs. yr 1 gets you the bsn, yr 2 and 3 the np. np rx rights vary by state but are fairly good in most states and include dea sch 2-5 in many states.
