So I'm in my first year and the last few months I have spent a great amount of time figuring out how to study, taking tips from professors/second years, etc in the process of adjusting to the pace and amount of information there is to take in. Basically I have spent (wasted) a lot of time through trial and error trying to figure out what works and what doesn't.

I'm wondering though -- does anyone have a compilation of tips basically or links to psychology research on the areas of learning and memory? I know there is plenty of research going into this area...I am just wondering where to find it, as applying this information could save time and allow us to study more efficiently/best retain what we are studying/etc.
