psyD clinical programs/general master programs

Hey guys!

I am trying to prepare a list of schools that are really good at psyD clinical or general psychology masters. If everyone can throw 2-3 good schools, that would be awesome.

Rutgers and Baylor are the top PsyD's (fully funded). I have heard Pepperdine, Indiana State, and Widener are quite good as well. Not sure of the funding with the last 3.

I'll give you what I understand to be the top general Master's programs (i.e., ones that have a true thesis that will be honored later) in no particular order: Wake Forest, Villanova, William and Mary. Also NYU has one but I don't know much about it. The first three offer funding to some degree, often times a pretty good ammount.

I could be deluded about the last one -- I was sort of attracted to it because of the beautiful location, but ultimately didn't apply when I was going the general MA route a couple of years ago.

University of Richmond has a good MA program? i did my undergrad there, but don't know anything about the MA program. they have a great psych dept, i had a wonderful undergrad experience there.

i know several people in NYU's MA program. it is much more clinical/counseling oriented than research. but a good springboard into their PhD program. however, their PhD program (counseling, the clinical program doesn't exist anymore) only accepts 4 students per year and provides NO funding.

I have heard good things about Yeshiva University (Albert Einstein College of Medicine)'s Psy.D. program although it is not funded...

NYU's MA program is great if you want to later apply to doctoral programs. Although the curriculum does not stress research there are tons of research opportunities at NYU, NYU medical center, etc., if you take initiative. One of their research methods courses requires that you join a lab and complete a project which you can turn into your thesis, so you get class credit for working on your thesis. Also if you maintain a high GPA you can start taking doctoral courses, which would definitely be transferrable. The program is not funded, but class times are late in the day so you can work and go to school. I'm sure a lot of other MA programs are similar, I'm just sharing my experience.

i wish i would have applied to more university-based psyd programs, but i guess it was a rookie mistake....luckily,i was accepted to one of the university based programs i applied to. i didnt knwo how lucky i was until i started crunching numbers for the other schools i was accepted to(all free standing or private schools)
so my advice: get the "insiders guide to graduate programs in clinical and counseling psychology" book (it was my bible when applying to schools), research the schools in the book, and keep an eye out for university based programs(low acceptance rates ect)......also while looking through the book, pay speacial attention to tuition waiver and assisstantship info....the university based psyd programs will usually offer some...the professional schools dont

PGSP-Stanford PsyD Consortium. The program is affiliated with Stanford and thus the caliber of the students is extremely high.

I believe PGSP is now known as Pal Alto University. I'm not sure how this affects their affiliation, but it may help with finding out additional information about the program.
