At each school I have been to, I have been told that our apps have been "scored," and that the interview is an additional "score" that is added.

Can anyone give any insight on how this process works?

For example, what are the scales for scoring? Is it something like this?

Pre-req GPA:
3.0-3.2 = 2pts
3.21-3.4= 4pts
3.41-3.6=6pts
etc, etc

GRE
<145= 0
145-150=2
151-155=4
etc, etc

Also, how are LOR's scored? PTCAS essays? etc?

I know there is probably no simple answer, but I am just looking for a little insight from anyone that has any.

Thanks

(I'll post this in both the Pre-PT and PT forums)

Probably different system at each school. Don't over think it. You'll drive yourself nuts.

All is different. Csu sac shows how they do it. http://www.csus.edu/HHS/PT/prospective student/index.html

Agreed. Let the numbers take their toll and in the end the final result is what matters. It's funny cuz I started doing this with my application but then it drove me nuts... So now I just check my email all the time and look forward to seeing a letter in the mail next wed / thurs... oh the PT school game.

I wonder why more schools do not do something like CSUS does. That looked extremely informative and helpful. Throughout the PT application process it has been frustrating not knowing what I'm up against in terms of number of students/how my app is "reviewed"/when I will have an answer.

While DPT is different from PhD in many regards, a friend of mine is in the midst of applying for computational biology at least has a deadline that all schools must inform you by (April 15). Whereas, I have read on some of these forums, some schools may inform you as close as the week before a program starts.

I understand that this is bias, in that my opinion comes from one who is applying, rather than one who has to sift through hundreds of apps, but I just had to throw this out there.
