PT licensing question

If you receive your initial PT license in one state and then move to practice in another state; do you have to maintain the license in you initial licensing state even if you don’t return (or could you let it expire)? Would it be on a state by state basis? Thanks in advance for any and all information!

I got my license in one state and then moved to a new state. I figures once I got my license in my new state, my old one would be void. But alas, both states still show that I have an active license. So, there's one anectdote for you! 🙂

it stays valid for as long as it says on the license. Usually 2 years(in illinois they all expire September this year), so if somebody worked here before but is moving to Indiana(why?????? hahaha)they would need a new license for Indiana and the Illinois one would be valid until the expiration date. It's not uncommon to have licenses in different states, especially if you live in a bi or tri state area.

Thanks for the responses. I'm aware of holding multiple state licenses...guess my question is more do you know if you have to keep the initial license valid (renewed) in order to maintain any other license held?

i.e. Initial license in Ohio.
Move to Indiana 😉
Would the Ohio license need to be valid in order to renew the Indiana license

Know a few other professions are that way. Thanks again

You don't need to keep it valid unless you plan on working there.
