Hello everybody,

I sure lots of people out there have similar issues to mine. So, my partner and I are both applying to graduate school to start this Fall. For my DPT applications, I have submitted my application and I am now starting to hear back from some of my programs about the status of my application. However, my partner is applying for her graduate degree in English and the deadline for many of her programs is not until January/February, which is the same time that my nonrefundable $500 deposit are due. So, the issue is that I have to accept or decline my admission offers before my partner even submits her application (and much before she hears back about the status of her applications). Obviously, we want to go to the same school, and we are both applying to the same 7 programs (to increase our odds of both being accepted into the same program), but I do not want to have to put down multiple nonrefundable deposits for programs, and potentially attend an entirely different institution (one that we both receive acceptance). This seems to be a common problem between health professional students vs graduate students, and I am wondering if there is anyone in a similar situation and what you are planning to do? Are you putting down multiple $500 deposits and just hoping you both get into the same program? It’s a pretty big shot in the dark considering how my partner will not even know what school she gets into and I am having to pay my deposit to hold my spot for potentially 7 different programs!

I was in the same position! I asked a few schools for extra time before submitting the deposits and was granted it. Every school may not give this to you, but it can't hurt to ask!
