PT school essays

Does anyone have an idea of how long is too long for an essay where the school doesn't specify on the length?

I know on PTCAS the essays are limited to 5000 characters that you can enter, at least the one's I've experienced.

Most essays I've written for schools have been about a page long (4500 characters). I would say not too short that you can't get your point across, but not too long that it loses the reader's attention.
