Hi! I have pretty much finished my PTCAS application. Just need to take the GRE (which is happening in a few days). Here are my stats:

  • BS in Exercise Science
  • Cumulative GPA: 3.77
  • Science GPA: 3.36
  • Observation Hours: ~180 hours right now (100 hours outpatient as a rehab tech, 50 hours at pediatric therapy clinic, ~18 hours OP hospital clinic, 8 hours veterinary therapy clinic, 4 hours at elementary school, 1 hour home health (which was more difficult to get than I thought lol but I'll take what I can get)). I will also record about 100 hours inpatient once I start my inpatient rehab tech job next week, so I will end with 280 hours.
  • Work Experience: OP Rehab tech (8 months), retail worker at university bookstore (2 months), exercise science research assistant at university (1 year), neuro-exercise training internship (4 months), child care provider for my younger sibling with autism (this is a nontraditional "work experience," but I was advised to include it in my application), will include my inpatient rehab tech position once I start.
  • Volunteer: mutual aid volunteer in low-income neighborhood (1 year), pediatric therapy volunteer (3 months)
  • Certifications: BLS
  • Don't really have much extracurriculars because I have familial responsibilities to tend to (mentioned this in my application)
I am honestly making this post because I have been studying for the GRE for a couple months and I have taken practice tests and have gotten less than a 300 every time. I am scared that my stats are not competitive enough and getting a low GRE would just ultimately ruin my chances. To be honest, I have read a lot of other posts and I keep comparing myself. I only have a few days left until I take the exam so there's not much I can do. My greatest weakness is verbal, especially the vocab. I have been studying my butt off and I will keep going until my exam date. Please let me know your thoughts on my chances of getting into a physical therapy school even with a low GRE. I am also applying to schools in Illinois by the way.

Not all programs require the GRE. Use...

Go ahead and submit your application for the programs that do not require GRE. Take the GRE like right now, ASAP. The earlier you get your application in, the better. Interview invites are already being sent out for some programs. For reference, I had a 284 GRE and got into multiple programs. You got it.
