I had submitted my updated coursework today and I had already sent in my updated transcript last week. I wanted to know do I need to wait for PTCAS to process my transcript first before I can submit my application to other programs or should I wait for that to be processed first?

it says on the ptcas website to esubmit your academic update the moment you find out what your grades are and to not wait until your official transcripts are available. So in that sense, the moment you find out what grades you got whether it be directly from your professor or from your schools website, post the grades as self reported on ptcas for the academic update and esubmit it. Then when you transcripts are available have them sent in to ptcas, theyll verify your self reported grades with your transcripts and then theyll update your gpa and send it out to your schools. One thing to look into, I know some schools want you to email them your unofficial grades the moment they become available to and to not just wait for ptcas to send them your officials when they are done being processed. Just something to check on with each of your schools.

Hope this helps!

I can't believe my grade for this course I took in the Fall has not come in yet. We took the final 10 days ago.

I made the mistake of checking "wait for my current semester grades" on the transcript request form at the University for one DPT non-PTCAS school (Seton Hall University) that doesn't even require the course I took this fall (General Biology) and now instead of having the transcript sent 10 days ago I have to wait for this grade to come in.

And it's not like the school will receive the grades as soon as the University sends the transcript, there is a 5 day delivery time i heard. I hope the school gets the transcript in time. Deadline for Seton Hall University January 15.

Ok, this is basically what I did.

First I updated my coursework last week with my Fall grades and also my plans for the Spring semester. HOWEVER, I failed to e-submit the updated coursework. But I already requested a transcript to be sent to PTCAS last week. I received my copy of the official transcript in the mail three days ago, so I'm assuming PTCAS should have received it by now too.
It was only TODAY that I realized that I needed to click the e-submit button on the bottom of my application in order for my Academic Update to go through.

I want to send out my application to other programs, so I'm wondering if I need to wait for PTCAS to review and process my transcript or not. I figure since my PTCAS application already has my updated grades, I could still submit to other programs now without PTCAS crosschecking my transcript with my updated grades.

If by "send out your applications to other programs" you mean add more schools on your designation list, I'm pretty sure you can always do that. I don't think you have to or should wait for the whole academic update thing. I believe if PTCAS receives the transcripts after the newly added schools receive your application from PTCAS, PTCAS will alert the schools on the updated transcript when it comes in or the schools will recheck PTCAS, I don't know exactly how it works but I don't believe you are in control of that so I'd just do whatever I could ASAP, add designations, update PTCAS with Fall grades, E-Submit etc.. I may be totally off on what you are exactly asking but that's what I think.

Yes, that's basically what I mean. I just want to send out my application to other schools right now.
And I was assuming the same thing. That PTCAS would just email a notice to the schools I apply to now once they process my transcript. But I don't want to make a wrong assumption 🙁

I feel you. I'm hesitant to send out this supplemental form for this one school because I am waiting for my Fall grade to come in which it hasn't yet. I feel if I send the supplemental form without the grade for that course the school may assume that I did not take the course this semester and the school may see it as one too many prerequisite courses left to take, which is why I am holding off until i receive the grade but if I don't get the grade by Monday, Ill call the school to explain.

Also I think I think it would be a big issue if PTCAS required you to only E-Submit or add new designations after they've received the transcripts. I'm sure if that was the case they would have said so in the email about the AU or it would be in red and bold somewhere very visible to applicants.

By the way you mentioned "My plans for the Spring Semester". Does PTCAS allow this? I didn't think so. I thought that come the end of Spring there would be another Academic Update where we'd add the grades for the courses we took in the Spring Semester. Am I wrong? I always wondered how schools knew whether or not we were on the path to completing all the courses we needed.

OMG. Do you know that in my PTCAS application I never had these last two prerequisite courses that I'm taking this Fall and Spring as Planned courses, so schools never knew that I planned to take them. Some of the schools that rejected me require these courses. Is it possible that they assumed that I never planned to take the courses? SMH.

They probably would have asked me. But that is a mistake that could be very costly. NYU requires the courses but they still called me. I really messed up there. Schools did not know that I was planning to take 2 of their prerequisites. But that couldn't have been the only reason for the rejections, like I said NYU still called me for an interview and they require the courses I left off of the planned sections.

I wonder if I should call the schools that rejected me and ask them if this was the reason and let them know that I infact will have all the prerequisites complete by the end of Spring.

Yes, PTCAS does allow you to put in your planned coursework for the next semester. I have four more pre-reqs I need to take for the Spring, so if I do apply to other schools now they would know that since it's on my PTCAS application.
