Will PTCAS become mandatory in the future, is that the plan? Or will you always be able to just simply apply individually to a program?

Also, is the GPA that PTCAS calculates the official GPA that the school will use? Or will the schools typically calculate GPA's in their own system?

From what I've experienced most schools have moved to using the PTCAS. And those schools that do use the PTCAS most do not give you the option of applying using the schools own application. As for the GPA I'm pretty sure that whatever GPA the PTCAS calculates thats what the schools use...unless the school your applying to requires a supplemental application that requires you to fill in grades for their prerequisites.
