Just a question of reference... in california, in order to work as a pharmacy technician, you must have passed the tech exam and register with the board. Therefore, there are two steps to the process. However both the ptcb and the board registration have two different expiration dates. A friend of mine recently renewed his registration with the state and they sent him a new green 1/3 sheet.. the ones you put on the wall for customers to see. However, he did not realize that his PTCB certification was not renewed for 2 years. He and i are confused. How does the board renew your tech registration when your PTCB certification expired a long time ago?

it cost him money to renew that registration. if he cannot renew his ptcb certification, then basically that green piece of paper is useless?

I'm not positive but I'm rather confident that you don't need to renew your PTCB certificate in order to remain a licensed technician. The PTCB certification is only required to show that you qualify for the original license in lieu of schooling or experience.
