Hey everyone!:cat:

I'm done with my NPTE and CA Law exams and am now waiting for my PTLA status. Has anyone had luck in finding a place to work at for the clinicals of 9 months? I was wondering how do I exactly approach this? Would I have to go to each certified clinical instructor clinic and inquire if they are willing to take me as a PTLA? How does it work? I know that CA board is supposed to send me some forms to be filled out by the instructor and then I have to send it back for approval. ANY info is much appreciated!

Thanks!

To clear things up. You are an internationally trained PT, correct?

Essentially, yes, you will have to find a site that will take you in as a PTLA. Many sites are aware of and are able to accommodate your internship needs.

"Clinical sites are approved on a case-by-case basis. The facility must submit a completed American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Clinical Site Information Form (CSIF) and the Notice of Intent to Supervise (NOI) form to the Board for approval. If the facility does not have a CSIF on file, one can be downloaded from the APTA. Indicate on question #8 of the CSIF if the number of budgeted positions is different from the number of filled positions. The NOI and CSIF form will be mailed to you the applicant once he or she is eligible to commence the period of clinical service.

Applicants are required to complete a nine (9) month period of clinical service. However, three months of clinical service may be waived if the applicant successfully completes a post secondary course in Law and Professional Ethics as offered by a post secondary institution or by successfully completing four (4) continuing education units in Ethics offered by a continuing education provider recognized by a California healthcare board pursuant to Title 16, California Code of Regulations section 1398.26.5."

Yes,I am a foreign trained applicant. I'm aware of most of what you said. The main thing I'm concerned is 'how exactly do I find a place who will take me in?'. Do I just call or go in person to each PT clinic and ask if they'll take me in? Could you please give me some suggestions?
Thanks!

You will have to contact each site individually.
