Hello,

I am currently going into my third year of undergrad and plan on applying to MD/MPH programs once i graduate. I currently work as an EMT, do research in a cancer research lab, and am a research assistant in a psych lab (started this when i was a psych major; i'm ending this this fall). Obviously i would like to demonstrate that i am very interested in public health (more specifically working with health systems in underdeveloped countries) but i'm not entirely sure of how i'd go about doing this.

From experience or not, do you guys have any ideas of organizations of which i can get involved in to better demonstrate my interest in the field? Would volunteering for basically any organization that helps larges amounts of people do the job (ie. red cross)? Since my research is in cancer (something that affects many people....), would that work well?

I also plan on doing some sort of public health study abroad trip before i apply. i'm fortunate to go to a school with many abroad opportunities.

Thanks for the advice. 👍

I would suggest you focus as much as possible on what will get you into a medical school. If you have the research and volunteering that's needed to get into a med program, you'll have the CV necessary to get into a MD/MPH program.
