I have been offered an opportunity to be a coauthor for a book chapter. I was wondering , is it worth the headache ? Will this chapter publication help in the long run ?

Depends if you plan on staying in academics. If so, then it'll help some, but not as much as a published peer-reviewed journal article. If you plan on writing more in the future, it's certainly a nice way to get your feet wet.
