Can I added a Publication to my application even though its my professors? I contribute to the research, helped edit and proofread the publication and I'm credited in the publication.

I would list the credit, absolutely. 👍

but the way the publication part of the application is set up it makes it seem that it has to be my own not my professor even though my name is on it.

So list it somewhere else? Or can you explain that that it is not "your" publication but that you contributed to it? Many, many (like all) papers are co-published or have credits, so I would think that the application can accommodate that pretty easily? I guess not though or you wouldn't be asking.

I didn't have a publication when I applied so my memory is very hazy about that part of PharmCAS. Maybe someone with relevant experience can chime in.

w8 I think I'm wrong. Sorry for the confusion. I'm not sure what I am to this publication. Me and the other students working under my professor were acknowledge, but he names us off where the author of the work is with his name and another professors name is included. So I'm not sure if we are co authors or not-.-

Get a copy of the paper. Probably on the first page just below the title of the paper, there will be a list of author names and their institutional affiliations. If your name is there, you are a co-author. If not, then look towards the end of the paper and find the acknowledgment section ("The authors gratefully acknowledge..."). If your name is listed there, you are not a co-author. Or go the easy route and simply ask the professor.

He is going to be out until next week. My name is on the first page just below the title of paper.

Add it to the publication because you participated. Take credit for your work.

So do acknowledgment not count as publications? Pharmcas says "Enter any publications you have written..." If in the acknowledgments it clearly states that I assisted in writing the paper cant I put it down as a publication???

If its stated I was a scholar working under my professor, but my name and the other scholars are listed with the author then does it count? Since we contributed greatly to the publication.

how about you give us the citation and we tell you who the authors are on the thing?

If you name is listed under the title then you are considered a co-author. No adcoms member will google your article and read the acknowledgements to find out your professor stated you as a scholar.

If your PI didn't feel you contributed greatly to the project than you wouldn't be listed as an author. Instead he would give you a mention in the acknowledgement section.

Here's an example:

High-Dose Daptomycin for Treatment of Complicated Gram-Positive Infections: A Large, Multicenter, Retrospective Study
Ravina Kullar, Susan L Davis, Donald P Levine, Jing J Zhao, Christopher W Crank, John Segreti, George Sakoulas, Sara E Cosgrove and Michael J Rybak

If you are one of those names following the title, you are an author. If you appear in a section stating "The authors gratefully acknowledge the contributions of Student X and Post-Doc Y", then you are not an author, regardless of how much you actually contributed.

If you do not appear in the author section, then you may not put the paper down as a publication. You can mention it as pertinent research experience (if it was in fact research that you were doing), but you did not author a paper.
