Hi everyone,
I looked at previous threads and there seems to be a mix of opinions on this:
I currently have 6 publications (I am a non-trad) and there isn't enough space to list them on all the AMCAS activities section. I'm currently considering either:

A. Cram short citations into work/activities section by each activity.
ie
Res. experience A (Lab A): List short version of citation
Res. experience B (Lab B): List short version of citation
I don't have enough space to list an entirely new work/activity (I'm at the 15 max) to list all my papers.

B. Listing all references in the research experiences essay instead (Some people have suggested this, although this goes against the AMCAS instructions)

What do you all think? Thanks so much!

How many are first authorships? Prior to applying I had 1 first authorship and 2 other papers where I was 4th-5th author. I ended up excluding one of the 4th authorship papers because I ran out of space on the AMCAS application. As a rule I didn't include papers I was not prepared to discuss during interviews. It worked out in the end..

I'm in a similar boat as you, I have 8 publications. What I did is marked my publications as a "most meaningful experience" and got the extra 1,325 characters to continue adding the publications. 2,025 characters was plenty for me and I was able to add a few sentences about why these are one of my most meaningful experiences. Also, if you use NEJM citation style it only requires the first 3 authors for papers with more than 6 authors.

I also felt this was the best solution because the research statement essay prompt explicitly says to list the FULL citation in your work activities which precluded me from doing the abbreviated citation thing. I know it's a small point but I figured following the instructions to the best of my ability was a good idea.

Hi! I had the same problem when applying. Here is what I suggest based on what I did.

-Make an entire section under "publication"
-include shortened versions of each pub
-include subtopics like "1st auth. Pub", "2nd auth. Pub", "co-auth" and list them like that (pretty much order of importance)
-provide a DOI to make up for the shortened version of your references.

I often would shorten paper titles using "..." To include only the relevant words to the topic so they could infer what the paper was about.

I also included specific words in each research description that I made to designate that my work there was meaningful to the scientific community. "I did work on xxxx, resulting in publication (Nature, 1957)." Thus, if they so chose, they could have put the pieces together from the publication section.

Hope this helps
