Hi,
I am struggling on how to list my publications. I have 3 pubs currently. Another pub that is accepted pending edits after peer review and another paper that is about to be submitted.

Should I list all pubs together or separate? Can I list the paper that has been accepted but not officially published as a publication? Also, what do I do with the paper that is about to be submitted.

Thank you all!

1) Group them in one space. Titles and author lists can be truncated if necessary when you cite them.
2) Yes, as long as they are minor edits.
3) Save it for an update after it gets accepted somewhere. It should not be listed at this time.

Thank you! Since I plan to put research as a meaningful activity would it make sense to then also have a separate research entry to go more in depth of the experiences?

Furthermore, should hours be listed for the publications? Or should I save that for the separate research space? Thank you @Catalystik

1) I don't understand. Are you asking if you should have more than one Research entry for the same lab or project if the first is an MM space?

2) No. Enter a zero. Prep time goes in the Total Hours of the affiliated Research space.

I was wondering about an affiliated research space but you answered that in part 2! Thank you!

I'm going to hop onto this thread real quick. I'm applying through TMDSAS, however, I believe your advice should still pertain to my question.

This is my description for publications related to my research:

Name1, Name2, Name3, Name4, Name5. This is the title of my research project. Accepted for publication in Name of Awesome Journal, Date. (In-Press). Oral presentation by Name1. at Conference Name and abstract publication in Awesome Journal Name.

As you can see, one of the publications is currently in-press so I do not have a citation. The abstract publication is published. However, I did not include its citation. The journal name is available along with the names of the authors + title of the paper. This should be enough for them to find my paper.

I did not include a proper citation for the abstract publication because I was already at the maximum characters for the descriptor. Will this be okay or should I include the proper citation. (Which would involve retyping the previous information that I did for the in-press publication all over again. It just seems redundant...also I just don't have enough characters either)

Possible ways to save characters: You can use the PubMed ID# for the published abstract in the place of a full citation if you wish. As you are an author, the paper should be searchable under your name. To save characters you can decrease the number of listed authors and say et al instead. If you use the name of Awesome Journal in the Organization space (with AJ) after it for the acronym, you don't need to spell it out in the description.

There doesn't seem to be a pubmed ID available. I was able to shorten the number of listed authors using et al. and included the journal volume and issue number. Hopefully that will make due.

I appreciate the suggestions. Thank you!

One quick question. What should be listed for the publication date? The most recent publication date?

Is it okay to list citations where I am not the first-author starting with First Author, et al. Plus all the other information to save space? So, essentially my name is not listed anywhere. I had one person say this wasn't okay because admissions might think I am just listing random citations and not publications I am a part of. But, I do not have room to list all the authors or include my name.

I suggest prefacing the citation with "Third-Authored paper:" then First Author, et al. . . . Or "Co-Authored paper:" etc. Unless you can generalize (meaning, it applies to all those listed) in the title of the space and add Co-Authored Publications.

Hi @Catalystik would it be permissible to do something along the lines as you said above about having a generalized statement: "Authors are listed alphabetically with students following professors" (which applies to all three publications I want to list) as I'm in a similar situation where there are too many authors to list.

Yes. Be sure there is enough information to Search the articles on the ncbi website, or a PubMedID#, or whatever.

Great. I have the First author, et al. (FULL AMA CITATION) + PMID #

Do you think if I have the full citation, PMID is still necessary?
