So how good does a publication look on an application? Obviously it's positive, but on a scale from 1-10 (10 being highest) where would it fall exactly?

I ask because I will at least have sent in my thesis for publication by the time I'm applying in the future...I figure my cGPA will be about a 3.5 or so and I'm a little concerned about it being a little low. Ideally, I will have two papers to send in for publication. Hopefully my papers, masters degree in Psychology, and other various things will have admissions overlook my cGPA.
