Hi - I'm planning to apply through both AMCAS & TMDSAS this upcoming cycle and I'm slightly thrown off by the ability to categorize activities in multiple ways on the TMDSAS application. I'm currently a clinical research coordinator, and after seeing patients, research is a significant part of my job (I have worked on 3 publications and multiple posters). The issue is that reading the instructions, it seems like the only time you can double up on labels is when an activity is both Healthcare + Employment or Leadership. Is it still possible to create a Publications stand-alone activity on TMDSAS in the same way I have on AMCAS? I just would like some way to acknowledge the research aspect of this position even though it's #1 designation is likely Healthcare. Any advice would be very appreciated!!

The character limit is pretty short on the TMDSAS app, so by the the time you type out the ridiculously long title for a publication you don't have much room left.

The appropriate category on TMDSAS is Research.
You can title it Research - Publications and just list your publications.
However don't count the HOURS you spent on it twice. A publication title will usually say zero hours.

You can put your Clinical Research Coordinator description in Healthcare Related Activity (giving you 500 characters to describe) or in Employment (only 300 characters).

@wysdoc Thank you so much for your response - this was very helpful! I had just one additional question, for activities that are ongoing (both current and planned for the future), would you recommend applicants re-write their Planned activity descriptions or keep them the same as their Current activity descriptions? Thank you again.

I think you could be briefer in the "planned activity" section
