how much impact does publishing in journals like JADA or general dentistry affect ones career? do patients really notice these things if not advertised by a dentist?

i read somewhere patients are more willing to trust dentists who were previously faculty members. they also found patients don't care what school you went to. i don't think they know what JADA is or even JAMA, NEJM, Cell, or Nature. They also think DMD is better than DDS...

well i wouldn't worry about those patients, i meant highly educated patients. how about with colleagues?
