Publix Technicians
Started by cf89
Publix is certainly the best company to work for. I have been with Publix as a pharmacy technician. After three months, they gave me tuition reinbursement which depend. They did start me of with $7/hr but the tutition reinbursement made me forget how much I was getting hourly because those reinbursement check was at least 1500 in one semester. Every 3months they give and evaluation which is when you get a raise then after a year you get a raise after 6months. I start Pharm school aug09 and they already gave me a $2500 check in june for my fall term.

I totally agree that Publix is the best company to work for. 😀 I started off at $10.50/hr. I am not certified and they even trained me because I had no experience at all. The first two pay raises were every 3 months and then every 6 months after that. I also start Pharmacy school in August and they are giving me $2,500 for my first semester! 👍 I love my pharmacy and the people that I work with. They are having a hiring freeze right now, but maybe there will be more openings for techs as soon as all the students that are techs go back to school. Plus, they like to hire within the store which means they like to train people who are already working there in other departments such as customer service and such. Keep trying because once you get in then it's definitely worth it.

Thats because Publix is in Geogria NOT California. Publix is a grocery store with a pharmacy. Suppose to be one of the best places to work at.

Only in Georgia?
Well, I guess it makes sense then.
I've lived in a lot of states, including New York, Louisiana, and Washington St., and I have never seen or heard of Publix. I shouldn't even say on this board what I thought it was before I look again and saw the "l".
They're not just in Georgia. I've seen a couple in Florida and know they operate in at least 3 or 4 other states in the Southeast.Only in Georgia?

Publix is a grocery chain throughout the Southeast. I started around $8 an hour 3 years ago (not in the pharmacy) and I've got a raise every review since. You have to get a certain score on your evaluation in order to qualify for any raise, it's not automatic. We rarely hire at my store, the turnover in the pharmacy is very low. They do like to promote from within, 2 of the other techs started in customer service area and moved from the front to pharmacy cashiers, then became techs. My pharmacists have enough applicants that they're not looking at people who are not certified, (this may vary from store to store of course).
From what I've seen the reasons my pharmacists like working there are 1) the relatively low volume (300+ only on really, really busy days), 2) we're closed on holidays like labor day, memorial day etc., 3) you're given stock in the company, 4) we open at 8am (at the earliest) and close at 8pm (at the latest), 5) lots of interaction with the local community, 6) bonuses and holiday pay and 7) no drive-through (although some newer stores will have them)
