Bronchopulmonary segment..... What have you all been taught? I was taught there are 10 in both the left and right lung. However the decks claim there are 8 in the left and 10 in the right. Wikipedia claims 9 in the left and 10 in the right. Netter's claims 10 in left and 10 in right.

Anyone know how many the boards think there are?

the right lung has 3 lobes the upper middle and lower. this side has 10 segments and left lung has 2 lobes, upper and lower with 8 BP segments

Have you got this off the old exams? or just what you are taught? There are two current classification systems for BP Segments, one says 8 and one says 10 for the left lobe. I have seen both in different text books. As I stated in my question, I understand what bronchopulmonary segments I would just like to know what classification systems that the boards use.

To help clarify what I am talking about.
International Nomenclature on Bronchopulmonary Segments by a committee of the International Congress of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, London, classifies that there are 10 Segments in both the left and right lung. However this was disputed in a paper published by Jackson-Huber, who based there idea of 8 BPS on the anatomic principle of 8 tertiary bronchi in the left lung. The international nomenclature bases their opinion on anatomic principle.
