Punishment for getting caught cheating on a final?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
This reminds me of a story about a student, we'll call him Chet :highfive:, who rather blatantly looked up several answers to his chem final on his phone. The professor took note, but waited until Chet walked up front to turn in his exam to inform him that he had been observed cheating and would fail the class and likely be expelled from the University. Shocked, Chet exclaims "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM!!?" to which the professors replies "no." "Good," Chet says, and inserts his exam into the middle of the stack and calmly exits the classroom.

Chet sounds like a psychopath!

Wasn't that a commercial?

In real life, it would be pretty easy for the professor to figure out who Chet was.

So hear is my big question. When these cheaters go on to prepare for the MCAT, do they cheat on their FLs? I mean it kind of undermines the purpose, at least to the individual, for taking an exam. The grade means nothing w/o being able to back it up in the long run.

This friend could still totally pass the class so I think they got off very easily...

Possibly. It's just one of those stories that you hear passed around occasionally. More than once I've had someone tell me this story as "someone they knew."

Pretty sure this was the plot of a Bollywood movie lol

yeah like I said before, on all of my course syllabi throughout the years here cheating is a minimum of a zero. Plus on top of that she was only suspended for a single game, but can still go to nationals. #baffled

Finals week is ending at my school, and a friend of a friend had an extremely hard history class. She ended up getting caught cheating red handed, cell-phone literally in hand.

Ultimately her punishment was a 50% on the final. Kind of baffled by this because the school policy is a big old goose egg on the test, perhaps even failing the course.

Just kind of curious what the punishment would be at other schools.

Where is that Neil degrasse quote about cheating and value

I'm on the discipline board at my uni and we would give an F in the course and an IA would be on her record.
