I just sent in my money to Purdue to accept my seat for the Class of 2013 and I know it may be a little early but I am starting my apartment search.
So I was hoping that people may know of some good buildings to look into.
Here is the list of what I am looking for:
reasonable price (as we all are)
washer/dryer hook-ups
dishwasher
allow pets
quiet area that is within a reasonable distance from the vet school
If anyone has some suggestions, or like where they currently live it, please share. It would be greatly appreciated!!

Hello,

I also just paid my deposit for Purdue vet school and am in the same situation...

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am also not opposed to having a room mate/apartment buddy.

Thanks.

Same situation here, I've heard that the good apartments go pretty quickly though, so it's not something to do at the last minute. I have some friends and a cousin who go to Purdue, so I am going to talk to them soon and will post anything I hear. I also didn't know if anyone was interested in being roommates?

Also, these websites were posted on the facebook group's discussion:
apartments.com
boilerapartments.com

Were you looking for a room mate?

I'm not sure. The problem is I don't know anyone going to Purdue and I have not had a roomate in 4 years. And the last roomate I had was a roomate from hell. She almost killed my guinea pig... So while I would love the cost saving side of a roomate, I am not sure if it is worth the effort. And everyone seems to suggest living alone. So I guess my thoughts are to room alone this year and to look for a roomate for the following years. But idk... if I found someone that I got to know and could really live with I would actually rather have a roomate. Living alone can be quite lonely at times.

Maybe I was lucky... but my roommate and I randomly decided to live together before we ever met 1st year. And we roomed together all 4 years. So you never know, and someone to split the utilities with and take out your dog when you get stuck at school until 3am (it will happen multiple times) is invaluable.

As for apartments... I am finishing my internship here and live in West Lafayette. I did a search on google maps for apartments and found several that way. A lot of students live right around the vet school for convenience, so that might be a good option for you. Boilerapartments.com was helpful too. And every place WILL negotiate with you - just stick to whatever you want (no pet rent, reduction in rent, whatever) and be prepared to walk away and look at another place. Doesn't hurt and everyone seems to cut a deal these days.
