Has anyone gotten an interview request for Purdue yet? The application was due back in December, and online it says that interviews are the third week in Feb.

I'm trying to decide whether to drop my physics lab (just got accepted to Univ. of South Carolina two days ago and they dont need the lab). Trying to figure out if I should give up on waiting to hear from Purdue and make my schedule a little easier : )

Me too, I been waiting for a response from them considering they informed us that interview requests would be out at the end of January. But since people have been getting rejection letters from them recently, I guess it's a good sign that we have not received anything yet...possibly they're dealing with the rejections first and then interviews...I hope!

I guess that is great news....How did you find out they sent out rejection letter thus far...not to be nosey....wink! Good luck to everyone!

From what I've read, some people from the Wall of Shame thread have posted that they've received rejection letters from Purdue. I was so scared that I'd one that day, I called home from one of my out of state interviews just to check! Luckily, no word yet.... I guess...

Oh yea, does anyone know if Purdue absolutely postively needs your Fall 06 transcripts in order to start reviewing your application?? It seemed like it to me in that mass email, but what do you guys think??

Yea, I've heard that people have gotten rejection letters too. So hopefully it is a good sign that we have not heard anything, but who knows! Im anxious to hear one way or the other though.

And I am pretty sure they would need your Fall transcripts before being able to review your application. Seems logical, but I dunno.

I called Purdue yesterday, and they told me that they will be sending out the rest of the letters sometime this week. Good luck to everyone!

Are you talking about the rest of the rejection letters or the interview letters?! I'm so nervous!:scared:

I got in touch today with a girl at Purdue applying to Pharmacy school, just like us, and this is what she told me:

"I haven't received an invitation for an interview or a rejection letter yet. I have, like you, heard that rejection letters were sent out previously. I also can inform you that the Assistant Dean of Pharmacy, Holly Mason, gave a presentation of what to expect last Thursday and informed the applicants that they made their decisions for interview candidates on that same day, and the letters should be out by the first week of February. So, I wouldn't give up hope yet if I were you."

Hope that puts you all slightly more at ease....even though I'm still anxious/nervous...

That is fantastic news! I guess you can't count your chickens before they hatch but this is def. a good sign!! Wishing everyone mucho luck!🙂

Statistics for 2006 Entering Class Acceptees *

Number interviewed - 250
Estimated entering class size - 160
Estimated male - 35 %
Estimated female - 65 %

Expected GPA of accepted students - 3.6 average range of (3.1 - 4.0)
Minimum overall GPA considered - 3.1 (3.5 out-of-state transfers)
Minimum prerequisite GPA considered - 3.1
Total number of new entrants expected - 160
Estimated in-state - 120
Estimated out-of-state - 40

So they're only interviewing 250-ish huh?? I'm getting anxious. I hope being out of state doesn't kill my chances too much.

I'm out of state too. At first, it didn't seem like they were accepting many of us out-of-staters. However, at U. of South Carolina, I was told that last year they only accepted 6 out-of-state kids for a class total of 180. So at least our chances are better than that : )

Looking at the out of state stats was one of the reasons why I decided to apply to Purdue. Considering that it's public, yet last year, out of stater's made up 30% of the class...... that's not TOOO bad.... 😉

Everyone applying to Purdue, please keep this thread updated!!

I got an interview today!!! Im so excited. I cant wait its MOn Feb 19. At 9:00 but im going the night before and stay at a hotel so I wont be tired and stuff. Did anyone else get one?

I got an interview today, too!! I am schedule on 2/23. Anyone else?

congrats on getting an interview! i am being unpatient and frantically checking my mailbox every day in hopes that there will be something...good to know that some people have received them though, hopefully i will too!! good luck with the interviews 🙂

My bf and I also got our interview letters today....ours is Feb. 23th on a Friday.....I got really teary-eyed when I opened it...yippee!!!
Congrats to you guys!

Hi guys! I also got an interview letter today. Mine is Feb 23 and it is on Friday. 🙂

to those of you who got interviews today..do you mind me asking your stats? im not exactly sure what purdue will weight the most since they dont look at the pcat...

I'm so jealous of you guys!!! I have yet to have an actual formal interview and would really like to be invited to Purdue to see why the school is rated fourth, why it is so competitive to get in, and what they have to offer.
Hopefully, I get an invite letter too and soon, but I have a feeling I didn't get mail today cause its below zero here....and half of Chicago is depressed...🙁

You guys... Am I the rotten apple of the bunch?? I got the dreaded rejection letter today. I'm sad, but somehow I'm not so surprised. Congrats and best of luck to the rest of you who are going onto the first round of interviews!!

sorry to hear that...keep your head up as I know you will do. It is extremely hard to get into Purdue, being out of state......Fort. i'm an in-state resident!

I received an interview for Monday 8:30 (Feb. 19). It will be an early morning!

I got an interview in the mail too but I am declining it as I already got into med school. Good luck guys..

I have a 3.6 GPA and worked really hard on my application this time around I was rejected last year so I just beefed up my application this time...I had a 3.58 GPA last year. I honestly dont think they care just about the GPA they really do LOOK AT EVERYTHING....

For those who got invited...how are u going to prepare for your interview? I am really excited but so nervouse because we have to be ready for an extemporaneous speaking exercise.... Any tips would be great I really really want to get into Purdue!! Thanks.

Wow, applications must have been mighty expensive. Congrats, though 😀

😡 Man...I got the rejection letter!! I thought I would be a competitive applicant there but I guess not. Makes me doubt my chances of getting into other schools I'm waiting on.

Its all good though, I have my mind set on going to Umich...

Good luck to those with interviews!!

I am soooo excited. I just checked my mail and got my interview request for Purdue!!! It is at 8:30am on Monday, Feb 19th. Gonna go look at flights now and see what I can do about getting there. Also a little concerned because I definetly have a physics lab on mondays that I don't think it would be good to miss...we shall see. But for now, I am happy : )

After completely reading the letter they sent, I noticed that at the bottom it says, "If you have any questions about the information in this letter, note them on the response form or call my office..." Do you think it would be okay if I called and asked if there was any possibility I could have an interview on the Friday of that week instead? Coming from South Carolina, it is extremely hard to get flights, and I only have one class on Friday which I could easily miss (and then I wouldn't have to miss a lab, which are hard to make up). I'm not sure whether it would look unprofessional to try to change my interview. I don't want them to hate me lol. Any advice would be appreciated!

shrubh, congratulations on getting interview letter! I am not really sure what to tell you about the interview date. You probably could just call them andwithout saying your name ask them whether it is even possible to change your interview date...

You know im having the same problem with my interview date..its feb 19 which is a holiday and all the fights were uber expensive and mostly sold out so i bought a ticket for the 18th which means im spending the night there and leaving the 19th in the afternoon...what sucks is the all flights are open on the 20th and there only 80 bucks and i paid almost 300 for mine 😡 But I dont wanna bother changing my interview date and go through all the hassle im hoping it will be worth it in the end...I should be happy that I got an interview.

Hi shrubh,

I called the adm today to reschedule my interview. The lady helped me was very nice. she asked me if I have any particular day I want to change to. Then she told me to book my ticket first, and call her back to confirm about the time. Anytime between 8-5 is fine. My new interview date is 3/5. So I think you don't need to worry about that. Hope this help

thanks httd!! that puts me at ease a little..i'll call them tomorrow and ask if i can change my date too!!

I know interviews don't start for another week or so but please let us all know how it went for you!!! Good luck!😉

So shrubh, did you call Purdue and get your interview changed? I'm still searching around for flight ticket. I'm from CA.

Yea..I called on Friday and spoke with Brenda Stevens--she's really nice. I changed my interview to 8:30am on Friday Feb 23. I'm flying in Thurs afternoon, staying the night with a friend, then flying out Friday night..not sure how I'm getting to the airport on fri though cos my friend's leaving for a hockey tournament in michigan so he can't take me. Guess I'm gonna be taking the lafayette limo...i've taken it before, it's not bad..just didn't wanna spend the money!!

I noticed they have "pharmacy orientation" as a pre-req for admission..I was wondering how you found the class in other universities or how u took the class, thanks...

If you look online, it says that transfer students (anyone not doing their pre-pharm classes at purdue) does not have to take it. So don't worry about it.

I had my interview today and things went very well! The interviewer made me feel very comfortable and ask you questions that you would all expect...personal strengths/weakness. How you can contribute to the profession of pharmacy. The written and video taped interview section went better than I thought too. It's def. nothing to stress over...just be yourself and let the rest fall into place. Good luck everyone!

Does anyone mind sharing their stats. who got an interview this year. I am applying next year....just curious.

Congrats on the interview.

Generally the minimum for an interview at Purdue is a 3.1 GPA.

I have a 3.8 cummulative GPA, with an 85 PCAT (but Purdue doesn't look at that--not sure why)...but I don't have any pharmacy experience so I figured I didn't have much chance of getting an interview since I am out-of-state. But, I got one : ) ,and I am now patiently waiting to hear back from them. They said we would know by the end of march. Good luck to you with applications and next year with interviews--it's a stressful process..

shurbh,

What about volunteer, career exploration, and leadership qualities. Do you mind sharing. Do you have a bachelor's degree. Im just trying to figure out what else i need to do until i apply.

Thanks.

I did a lot of volunteer work in high school with Key Club, American Cancer Society, etc. but haven't done any in college. I'm in a pre-pharmacy club here at South Carolina, plus a couple of Honor societies, but nothing too exceptional. And I was Drum Major in high school which is where a lot of my leadership abilities come from, which I tied in with one of the questions on the supplemental application about my passion for music. I researched the school a lot, and added a little bit to my application to make them aware of that (and at the interview, I added onto this).
No, I don't have a bachelor's degree..I'm in my second year of undergrad. Honestly, I haven't done anything remarkable...just worked my butt off in school to get good grades lol.
Hopefully I will get in, but since I don't have any pharmacy work experience, etc. I am kinda doubtful...looks like you are an Indiana resident, so that'll help you out!

I also got an interview from Purdue. My cummulative GPA is around 3.9. I will be getting BS in mathematics this May, and I am out of state student. I did a bunch of extracurriculars in college and have volunteered at the hospital pharmacy for a year.

Thanks for the response.

I think I am a very strong applicant... but I DO NOT want to take the Pcat. I think I may be taking a big risk by not applying to schools that need pcat, but I feel pretty confident I have a good shot. But I want to be sure.

Has anybody received an acceptance letter yet that applied to Purdue? Just curious. The anticipation is killing me!

i got excited when i saw that someone had posted under this thread, thinking that some lucky person might have received an acceptance...but i guess you are just like me, frantically checking your mailbox to see if anything has arrived..lol

so sorry, no news here either. Im guessing they'll be sending them out this week sometime since they just got back from Spring Break today and they told us we would know by the end of March. Good Luck!!

does anyone know when Purdue will send out their decision? I asked them after my interview and they said that they should get back to us after 2-3 weeks. thanks!
