fine what do people normally do with it

I was under the impression that it simply gave you the prerequisite knowledge to enter into a residency and train as a physician. Does it have any other purpose? Well maybe to stress out undergrads trying to get in, and stress out med students tryin to get out. But aside form that...

Write your own damn secondary.

Oh, is that what they are asking for. If so 👎 👎 That is pathetic! Figure your own secondary letters out, damn!

keep "the man" in power

seriously though, what kind of thread is this?

at least put in a credit card advertisement

One less person in the application pool.

No, it's really just to get rich and afford that BMW. Don't let the secret out. :meanie:

ok man, put the fattie down, and stop asking questions like this

If you guys are the future doctors of at least this country, I am not sure if I still want to be in this group of people. For your information I didn't even start on my secondary yet, it was not a secondary qusetion (at least I didn't know it to be). But in either case; whatever, I don't really care any more.

Seriously, A. learn to take a joke and B. what skills does one need to develop to be successful in medicine? answer that and you've got your question answered (ethics, science, interpersonal skills etc.).

To the OP...

I think I might understand what you meant. Perhaps the question could have been posed as "what can you do with an MD besides practicing in patient care medicine?" To which there are many answers.

1. Training Future Clinical Physicians ...
2. Learning how to do a proper beer bong ( a skill lost since college)
3. Doing perverse experiments ala "Flatliners"
4. Have sex in a storage closet with a hot surgeon.

If anyone else already listed these, sorry.

I know a couple of women who went to med school, but decided to not complete residency. One graduated from med school, married, had a child, divorced, and went into severe depression. When and if she recovered, I don't think she finished her residency. The other woman went to med school because her husband encouraged her. As he is a pediatician, he can afford to pay for her medical school. She does not want to finish residency because she wants to start a family. She just went for the education. Go figure. 🙄

Let me unbaffle you.

"Training future clinical physicians." Duh. If you know the answer why ask? I think people suspect that you are taking your high horse out for a trot, waiting for someone to list a reason with which you disagree at which point you will pounce, in the process demonstrating both your self-righteousness and your insecurity.

Either that or you really care about the finer points of the purpose of medical school in which case you are a major geek and need to beg, borrow, or steal a life.

Which are you refering to? The woman who presumably didn't recover from the depression to finsh the residency or the rich b**** who wanted to use her husband's bling to get the auspicious title of Dr. in front of her name?

^ What happened to the woman with the depression? Do you still keep in touch with her? Is she getting treatment?

I kept in touch with her while she was in med school. She distanced herself from me when she got married. Then, a mutual friend pointed her out to me at a gathering. I fell off my chair and spilled hot tea on the person next to me. She had gained nearly 150 lbs. I felt sad for her. Since she lost touch with me, I have heard from a couple of people about her. Lot of water under the bridge for both of us. We used to be buddies, now just acquaintances (sp?). So much for buddies.

I was referring to the rich one.

Sorry I didn't read into the post more, that is terrible to hear that the other woman went through that. I can't even imagine what that would be like to go through. Awwh. 🙁

Work at Mcdonalds with the pride of having "Dr." before their name on their name tag. Duhh.

This is like one of those "Who is buried in Grant's tomb?" type of questions.
