So I am signed up to take the OATS this Thursday but I don't feel quite ready. I have been studying a little all summer but I really started buckling down 2 weeks ago. Should I push back my date a couple weeks or take them in 3 days and if I must, retake them in 3 months. If I don't do well is December too late for a retake? I am submitting my application in a week or so. I have a 3.78 overall gpa, 3.69 pre-req, PCO is my #1 school. I am really worried now that if I do bad I won't even get an interview. Do schools interview some people with bad OATS and ask them to retake?

Thanks!

Have you taken the opted.org practice test? I hear it's really similar to the real one. Maybe that will give you a better gauge of your score and help you decide.

I'm taking the OAT this Thursday too 🙂

Put it off if you need to. 3 months of waiting for a retake is too long.

The opted test is extremely similar to the real test, and you can guess that your score on the real test will be somewhat close. My TS was exactly the same. I didn't feel ready either, but I don't think that anyone truly feels ready to take the OAT.

Take the Opted test, see how you do, and base whether or not you push the test back on that score. On the other hand, you could just go ahead and push the test back a week or two then take the Opted test. Study up on your weak points for a couple of weeks, then take the test.

Whatever you do, don't think about the fact that you can retake the test. You'll do better if you just think about this one test, this one time, and just tell yourself you'll beat the crap out of it. Relax the day before, and don't stress about it. It's not the end of the world.

Good luck!

I was feeling the same way. I just buckled down these last few days, I took the practice test, did well, and I'm much more confident for tomorrow. Know if you move it, it is a 25 fee. Obviously not comparable to the 200+ it costs to redo, but just an fyi. if after taking the practice, you dont feel good, push it back. I know in my situation, I wanted to, but then at the same time classes are going to get tougher as the school gets more in session. So even with the extra two weeks I would have had. I wouldnt get much time to just study the OAT. Just my two cents. Good Luck to you on your test!
