518 would be an incredible score, putting you around 95th percentile, and certainly in range for pretty much every school. 522+ is even more incredible and would put you at 99th percentile. CARS tends to be the biggest barrier for people and can be pretty tough to improve. Ultimately it's up to you if the extra study time is worthwhile at the expense of ECs and your sanity.

Applying to T10/T20 schools with high stats is not a guarantee that you'll get in. I'd take it on 9/14 while you are fresh. Double down on content you don't know. You can't really study for CARS or get that much better at it. I thought I could but got 123 in CARS both times. I think a lot of it comes down to passage interest/difficulty and your sleep before test day.
