in the experience section of the AMCAS, can I put down one experience that I havn't done yet? I want to turn in the AMCAS by june, the earliest time possible, however I got into an NIH IRTA post bac program while I take a year off because I took the mcat late. I start in september for IRTA but I want to put it in my application somewhere since this is probability the most prestigious thing I have done...or yet to be done.

Unfortunately, the experiences section doesn't allow for future activities like the transcript does. Maybe you could tack a commentary onto the end of your Research section (if the research will be related), but it would be better to let schools know individually via update letter about the situation, after you have begun it.

Experience: something personally encountered, undergone, or lived through.

It will be a great ice breaker to discuss at interviews, or to write about in an update letter.

Some secondaries ask for your plans for the coming year, too.

The AMCAS form doesn't allow for future start dates on activities.

Absolutely not. The primary app is only for stuff you've actually done.

When you receive secondary applications, many ask what you've done since submitting the primary and/or what your plans are from now up until med school. Save it for then.

Also, many schools don't screen for secondaries. Most of the ones that screen do so mostly based on MCAT and GPA minimums. You can also send updates after submitting the secondary at most schools.

There's nothing stopping you from listing something like "Gained acceptance to NIH IRTA postbacc program. Responsibilities include..."

Just to give a voice to the other side... I wrote about an activity I was scheduled to do, but hadn't started yet at the time of submission of my primary. I was asked about it at most of my interviews and elaborated on it then. I was accepted at all those schools. If you think it's really important, I would include it. Just my opinion though!
