Q about how you to enter the "start/end dates" for colleges

ok...i know this seems simple, but maybe im over analyzing.

are we supposed to enter the SCHOOL year or the actual year we started or ended school? FOR EXAMPLE:

I started at school "X" in the spring of 2000, but that semester actually belongs to the 1999-2000 school year, so do I enter that I started in January of 2000? or do I do what we all did for coursework, and enter that I started in January of 1999?

You put the month/year you actually started. So you would put 01/2000 if you started in january 2000.
