hey guys,

I'm somewhat confused about something. I want to match for 2009, so is the deadline to complete step1 and step2 by the November 2008 deadline to match for '09? I heard that you need to have step 2 completed at least 4 weeks before the November deadline...

sorry for the stupid questions, I'm just overwhelmed by all the dates.

The rules for Steps 1 and 2 are only an issue if you are an international medical grad. In that case, you need to be ECFMG certified by the ROL deadline, and you need to pass Step 1 and Step 2 CK/CS prior to the February deadline.

If you are a US grad, there are no restrictions on the USMLE steps. Everyone has Step 1 done, some take Step 2 early, some take it late. Just don't forget to take it!

ya FMG; so February of 2009 for the '09 match correct?

Wow, you are thinking ahead. Yes, you will need your results back by the ROL deadline, which is usually the third week in February or so. Hence, you will need to take it 6 weeks earlier or so.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I just want to make sure I have enough time to prepare for boards that when I graduate in '09, I hope to have a job when back home in Pittsburgh. I don't want to work in London; even though I really enjoy this place...there's no place like home.

cheers
