So I already bought USMLE World and it's great, but I've heard many people say the more questions you do, the better you will do on the real thing. What are your experiences with other Q-banks?

  • USMLEeasy - 3500+ q's - Free through my school
    • Has anyone used this one extensively? It seems good but I haven't heard of a lot of other people using it. I think it might be relatively new.
  • Kaplan - 2400+ q's - $109 for 1 month
  • USMLERx - 3000+ q's - $79 for 1 month

Kaplan -too nit picky , muster if you have the patience with it.Extra knowledge never killed anyone but it can frustrate you at times.

USMLEeasy- dunno 😕

USMLERx: next best thing to UW. helps you get through FA and get all the memorizing done. Use it extensively to strenghthen your knowledge from FA.

UW : ofcourse the gold standard.Try to give 2 runs before the real deal.

GL!

After UW, your second best choice would probably be USMLERx.
Since USMLEasy is free at your school, it wouldn't hurt to try it. If you don't like it go with USMLERx.

UWorld is taking me a really long time to go through.. the explanations are great but it can take some time to read the explanation and annotate... to do a 48Q block it takes me over 4 hrs (is that avg or longer than avg)?

Are USMLErx explanations also long?? Does it take just as long to get through USMLErx as it does UW?

I agree when you say UW takes time, but I saw this trend for first few blocks only , later I started to skim most of the info that I had already come across. Some ppl just prefer to learn directly from it and keep annotation to minimum. With almost 60% of UW done so far, it takes on an average 3 hours to test and review 2 blocks for me.That's ofcourse with annotation kept to bare minimum. Spread the blocks out-UW approx has like 43-44 blocks , I would aim to finish first pass with atleast a 2 weeks left.

USMLRx does not take that long cuz most of the info is DIRECTLY from FA , so you barely have to annotate anything. There explanations are concise ,so you won't be spending much time on em .

Also remember that UW is like learning new material, USMLERx is just repetition of FA.

I'm very anti-annotation because I think it wastes a lot of time. Keep it to a minimum.. only take notes from the educational objective if you have to. I'm a big fan of the highlight tool - using it to solve questions and then reviewing afterward. I mark the questions with pictures so I can go over that quickly at a later time.
