Wanted to know the ans to this q

Which of the following is effective against herpes and NOT against rhinovirus
1) phenols
2)Iodophore
3)Gluteraldehydes
4)Sodium hypochlorite
5)70% isopropyl alcohol

I am hesitating between phenols and 70% isopropyl alcohol. I would say it is 70% isopropyl. Someone help us with more inputs. 🙁

yes there is one good reason

answer is isopropyl alcohol

Hydrophilic viruses do not have a shell but rather have a very tough protein coat that isopropyl alcohol cannot enter.

Hydrophilic viruses include rhinovirus, hepatitis A and poliovirus.

isopropyl alcohol is negative against hydrophilic viruses .so it doesnt act on rhinovirus


phenols is narrow spectrum to hydrophilic virus.

i wanted to know how much time ECE takes in evaluation?
and where do i send my report to?
....................
basically wats "THE" procedure for taking the dates for the exam!

In brutons agammaglobulinemia,adequate host defence mechanism exist for resistance to

1.virus infection
2.fungal infection
3.bacterial infection
4.non pathogenic

answer given is 1.

but fungal infection should be correct.becos antibodies are important for neutralising certain viral infections,hence pts susceptible to viral infections (specially enterovirus).

but again viral,fungal and protozoal infections are taken care by cell mediated immunity.

pls let me know ur views in fungal infection correct.

According to me the ans is viral ....
Fungal causes hypersenstivity reac in the body and for that IgE is reg.....

Hi dent_mangalore,

I did the ECE paperwork maybe 3 or more years ago, I can't remember anymore how long they took in sending me the papers, sorry, I am sure someone else can help you better with this matter. 😳
