Graduating from DFV 2.5x (non-prism) and decided I need to save my neck and back. I'm currently testing out the "ultimate setup' (price-wise) Orascoptic Eyezoom + XV1. I just received to my credit card statement and started to regret the purchase. The 3.0x is similar my 2.5x. I am adjusting well to the 4.0x and rarely use the 5.0 unless I'm fine-tuning crown margins.

I'm thinking of switching to the 4.5x from Q-Optics or Orascoptics. By the way, I have a Lumadent Light I can switch over.

I heard the angle of declination and weight are the pros for Q-Optics. However, the quality of optics from Orascoptics is superior.

I can get the Orascoptics for $1900 or the Q-Optics for $2250.

What's everyone's thoughts?

Lumadent also has a new wireless battery now.

I used XV1 with 2.5X in the past and currently use the QOptics Prism (3.5X)

XV1:
Advantage: Wireless light, much more focused light
Disadvantage: Heavier, expensive (EyeZoom with XV1 costs around 5000k. Student pricing is less)

Prism:
Advantage: Much lighter, Good quality loupes, cheaper
Disadvantage: Light with wire (this gets annoying once you get used to wireless light)

I am going back for Pros residency this year. I am thinking of getting the EyeZoom with XV1, but it is freaking expensive

I have Q-Optics 4.0X prisms with a lumadent light. gives me enough zoom but still allows me to see a quadrant while working. lumadent is great and they just started making a wireless light recently

My faculty has eye zoom and mentioned he rarely dials it down. Might as well go straight to whatever magnification you want.

I'm a first year, and I am deciding between the exact same two right now. What did you go with? Pros cons? Also were you able to compare the field of vision for both. I hear the 4.5x isn't standardized across brands

I have both the XV1 Loupes with 4.8x and Qoptics 4.5x. The weight, terrible declination angle and unreliable wiring have created an overall bad experience for me (neck pain, and being forced to be without loupes due to repairs). Some claim that the optics are suppose to be better with orascoptic, but I think the difference is really negligeable and completely overshadowed by the gains in comfort. I would definitely recommend the QOPTICS
